Colchester United Community Sports Trust
"Colchester United Community Sports Trust works in partnership with communities to develop
an inclusive range of sporting, educational and social opportunities that improve the quality of
life for individuals and neighbourhoods”
Colchester United Community Sports Trust leads the club’s community programme and is recognised by the Football League and others as one of the UK’s top community football clubs.
Working closely with the public, private and voluntary sectors, the Trust delivers an inclusive and diverse range of sporting, community, health and educational opportunities to over 20,000 children, young people and adults each year. Increasingly, the Trust delivers key programmes for government departments and local authorities to support local, regional and national campaigns to raise standards of health, education and skills in targeted areas. It also provides an important public face and profile for the Club.
Established as a recognised charity in 2001, the Trust has won many local, regional and national awards for its innovative programmes and its dedicated staff continue to break new ground in tackling health issues and challenges brought about by low aspiration, expectation and achievement through programmes such as:-
- Baby U’s – parenting support
- Kick into reading – early reading skills
- Fair Tackle – support for young offenders
- Red Card to Truancy – crime prevention projects
- Playing for Success – numeracy and literacy support for young people
- Families into Football – reading and writing for adults
- Men – healthy living support
- Street Football – estate football project
- Healthy Together – healthy family lifestyles
- Heading for Success – boosting adult basic skills
- Positive Futures – healthier safer living in challenging neighbourhoods
In addition to our extensive school and sports development programme, through which we work
with approaching a hundred schools, our community projects across Essex will be managed
from a new hub at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Opportunities for partnership and sponsorship always exist to those who wish to support the community programme in a practical way and raise the profile of Colchester United FC as we build and strengthen a growing fanbase for the future. Anyone interested in supporting the work of the Trust should contact in the first instance Steve Bradshaw, Chief Executive of Colchester United Community Sports Trust, on 01206 572378, sbradshaw@cucst.org.uk or at the new Weston Homes Community Stadium when it is open.
